AkzoNobel’s Color of the Year 2027 will headline a showroom display designed to inspire furniture, cabinetry, building-products and flooring manufacturers.

Designed to demonstrate how color and wood tones can work together across the home, the showroom display will feature Soulful Sage as an accent color paired with a range of warm, light, mid and dark wood finishes inspired by natural hues. The soft, silvery green offers a versatile starting point for new product and finish development and is intended to complement natural wood tones across furniture, cabinetry, building products and flooring, reflecting the growing influence of softer, more organic colors in interior design.

Those visiting the Global Color and Design Center will also see more than 300 finishes across two double-sided display walls. The walls have been designed with wood and feature gridded panels showing a broad range of finishes, including combinations which have been created to support manufacturers’ upcoming product collections.

The new palettes and trends on display are set to shape home décor over the coming years. Invitees can see these colors applied to a range of wood substrates and finishes, showcasing how different techniques can transform the look and feel of each piece.

“High Point Market is always an exciting opportunity to meet with manufacturers from across the globe who come to showcase their new products,” said Bryan Hodges, Color and Design Manager, Wood Finishes Americas, AkzoNobel. “It is always rewarding to be able to see the wood products that we’ve helped our partners develop over the last six months, and to share them with other manufacturers.”

AkzoNobel’s Global Color and Design Center works closely with manufacturers to develop customized finishes for specific product lines and production capabilities. During Market week, the Wood Finishes team will meet with existing and prospective customers from around the world to review current collections, discuss design trends, and develop ideas for future launches.

“High Point Market gives factory owners and manufacturers across all segments from cabinetry, windows, doors, furniture and flooring a key moment to see how color and finish trends translate across the whole interior open home concept,” explains Bryan. “And those visiting our Global Color and Design Center will get an opportunity to look ahead by seeing how Soulful Sage and its color stories pair with pale, mid and darker natural and stained wood finishes, which will help shape their future designs.”
